The Broken Winged Fairy

- a sonnet -

My fairy, blown from branch where blackbird sings,
The statue I had painted into life:
On the hard path she lies, with broken wings,
No sooner living than she falls to strife.
Carefully I'd painted her grey dress
In garden green, and russet-orange where
Her petalled collar gives her neck caress,
And golden leaves into her golden hair.
Then her grey skin I'd tinted subtle blues
And living pinks to make an English rose;
Where knees and elbows rub, brushed deeper hues,
And red where sunlight through the fingers glows.
Thus touched with life, then hurt, she lives through this:
The fairy, broken winged, still blows a kiss.

Rune Stones

Here is a brief description of the runes and their meanings.

There are 24 runes in a set, sometimes there can be 25 as some of the sets include a blank rune, the sets are divided into sets of 8 - these sets are Freya's, Hagal's and Tyr's and appear below in that order.  You can use just one rune for a reading or the whole set.

	f	Cattle	Cattle were the livelihood of the tribe, that is why this stands for wealth, prosperity and possessions won or earned.
	u	Aurochs	This rune governs survival, primal strength and speed. It is sometimes referred to as the warrior rune as it took great skill to hunt these large now extinct bison-like animals.
	th	Thorn or Giant	This runes meaning is especially argued some thinking it protection whereas others see it as obstacles. I prefer the latter as it is always good to have something which can indicate whether something is negative in a casting. This is also known as the troll rune.
	a	God or Mouth	This rune governs communication. It is sometimes seen as 'blessings' in the form of spiritual communication.
	r	Riding or Cartwheel	This rune is the wheel of life with everything moving in cycles. It represents change and action. As the meaning suggests it can also represent travel.
	k - c	Torch	The torch is the bringer of light and therefore stands for enlightenment and illumination. This is the fire rune.
	g	Gifts	This rune governs spiritual gifts and generosity (i.e. the gift of giving). It's keyword could be thought of as exchanges.
	w	Perfection or Happiness	This is basically the happy rune representing balance and harmony, in tarot it could probably be referred to as the wish card.

	h	Hail	Known as the weather rune this covers challenges or uncontrolled forces both inner and outer.
	n	Need	This isn't needy as such, it is pointing out that the things you need you probably already have they only have to be worked at. Self preservation is another keyword.
	i	Ice	A period of inaction, reaching a standstill or emotional cooling. (I personally prefer to think of it as a quality or opportunity that is still to thaw).
	j	Year or Harvest	Here we see the reaping of rewards for past efforts. It can be seen as the end of something and the start of something new.
	y	Yew	The yew tree is an ancient wisdom keeper and the gateway to the otherworld. Because of this it is known as the shaman rune (representing the ability of the shaman to control/mould the unshaped energy of the otherworld) standing for motivation and transformation.
	p	Dice Cup	The cups were often used for divination and gambling that is why this is seen as Fate. It urges you to make your own choices and take charge of your own destiny.
	z	Elk	The rune said to be a pictorial representation of an elk with its massive antlers is seen as the protection rune.
	s	Sun	The sun with its life-giving light and warmth can be seen as the life force. Its meaning is good fortune, health and happiness.

	t	Tyr Warrior God	This represents the war god who sacrificed his sword arm to save the other gods and therefore represents sacrifice for a long term goal. It is the battle rune including heroism and victory in it's meaning.
	b	Birch	Due to the birch's ability to survive fire and regenerate quickly it is concerned with rebirth, new beginnings and purification. It also covers fertility.
	e	Horse	One of man's closest allies in the animal kingdom this stands for co-operation and progress. It has also been referred to as the goddess stone (i.e. the white mare).
	m	Man	This is mankind in it's more general sense but it can also apply as the individual relating to personal destiny or status.
	l	Water	This is the rune of emotions and emotional balance. Water is also linked to intuition and psychic matters.
	ng	Ing Fertility God	This refers to Ing the fertility god so it's primary meaning is fertility, though it's meaning can be used in a more general sense covering fertility of all kinds e.g.fertile ideas, creativity, etc...
	o	A possession	Seen as the rune of the homestead it is good for all domestic issues. This can also stand for ancestors and inheritance.
	d	Day(light)	This as daylight suggests brings about clarity, awakening and enlightenment. It suggests a good time for planning and embarking on new projects and that things can be taken at face value.
